New research has shown that men are now paying - on average - one hundred pounds MORE than women for their car insurance. That's according to a survey by confused.com, which is compiled and published every quarter and gives a snapshot of what the insurance industry is doing. The index has also shown that premiums across the board have increased as insurance companies become more and more expert at gathering data about our driving habits. Higher food and air fares helped to increase December's Consumer Prices Index (CPI), the Office for National Statistics said. Inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) rose to 2.5% in December from 2.2% the previous month.
