The Book Review: 'The European Union: A Citizen's Guide' by Chris Bickerton
With two and a half weeks to go before Britain votes in the June 23rd referendum on EU membership, the mood on the streets is more like confusion than euphoria. With both sides accusing each other of lies and exaggeration, it's hardly surprising that some people still don't know which way to vote. For many the problem is seperating EU fact from EU fiction...and knowing where to go for impartial analysis. Author and academic Chris Bickerton may have the answer in his new book "The European Union: A Citizens Guide", which tells you everything you ever wanted to know about the EU without telling you which way to vote. Chris Bickerton joins Juliette Foster in the studio.

Book review: "Loaded: Money, Psychology and How to Get Ahead without leaving your values behind."
How would you describe your relationship with money? Do you regard it as a means to an end, or something that isn't worth thinking about until the postman drops a reminder of an unpaid bill through the mail box? It's that perception of money that will ultimately shape how well - or badly - we manage our finances. Why are some people better at handling money than others? Are they just naturally capable or do they have the right set of values to be financially successful? Those are just some of the ideas explored in the book, "Loaded: Money, Psychology and How to Get Ahead without leaving your values behind." Its author is Doctor Sarah Newcombe, a behavioural economist at the investment research group "Morningstar", who joins Juliet in the studio.

Does the idea of trading stocks, options or other financial products appeal to you, or is it something that's better off in the hands of the market professionals? Yet its worth staying the course because with a little bit of patience its possible to learn how to read a market and find the strategies that turn losses into gains. It may sound a bit too good to be true but according to author John Piper its definitely not a fairy tale. He should know because he has been trading for over 30 years with considerable success. The Book Review: Jez Rose's 'Flip The Switch: Achieve Extraordinary Things with Simple Changes to How You Think'
Have you ever wondered why some people get what they want while others have to struggle? Are they phenomenally talented or do they have the knack of being in the right place at the right time for good things to happen? Surprisingly luck - and to a certain extent talent - don't have much to do with it. How far you go in life and whether you achieve your potential, depends on how you think and approach situations. So how easy is it to change the thought and behaviour patterns inherited from childhood, into something positive and beneficial? According to Jez Rose, an author and award winning behaviour specialist, anyone can do it....just as long as you follow a few rules outlined in his new book "Flip The Switch". Jez Rose joins Juliette Foster to discuss the book in more detail.

The Book Review: Lord David Owen’s ‘The UK’s In Out Referendum: EU Foreign & Defence Policy Reform’ & ‘Europe Restructured: Vote to Leave’
The decision on whether the UK stays inside the European Union in the upcoming referendum, could depend on whether a large number of young people turn out to vote. An online survey by "Opinium" - on behalf of "The Observer" newspaper - found that 43% of those questioned wanted Britain to leave Europe while 39% wanted the country to stay in. The results may be a setback for pro-Europe campaigners but for those on the opposite side of the fence, it's further proof that Britain is capable of functioning outside the EU. David Owen is a former Foreign Secretary who from 1992 to 1995 also served as EU peace negotiator in the former Yugoslavia. He's also the author of the pamphlet "The UK's In Out Referendum: EU Foreign & Defence Policy Reform". Earlier he came into the studio and he gave Investment Perspectives presenter Juliette Foster his reaction to that survey.

The Book Review: 'Connect: How Companies that Engage with Society Become More Successful' by John Browne
Share Radio's Book Review: Can society and business exist in a mutually respectful relationship where one side knows where the other is coming from? On the surface, the answer to that question would appear to be "No", since most people believe that companies work to undermine the public interest. Yet there's no denying the fact that business and the public need each other although the challenge is to find a meaningful way of bringing both sides together. Well one man who may have the answer is the peer and former CEO of BP, John Browne, whose new book, "Connect: How Companies Succeed by Engaging Radically with Society", is published in paperback this week. John Browne joined Juliette Foster in the studio.
