Once again, it's time for the This is Money podcast. Every week, in partnership with NS&I, Financial Broadcaster of the Year Georgie Frost and Financial Website of the Year This is Money team up to go through all the finance stories you need to know this week. On the agenda today, of course, The Bank of England cut interest rates as many of us predicted. We're not going to pat ourselves on the back too much for that one, but some prognosticating is definitely in order. How will this affect us in the long run? Cuts to existing savings rates have left savers nervous, and things are not looking good on the property market, as homeowner levels have dropped to their lowest in 30 years. Is this the worst time for a rate cut? We'll also be running through the new deadline for PPI claims, and Simon's round-up of the best and worst of Great British Autos. Sarah Pennells is joined by Matt Saunders, from GoCompare, discusses how some people who live in a rented property don't know they have the right to switch to a cheaper tariff; Ashish Mehra, founder of Wesplit.it, explains how the company can help young people save money; while behavioural psychologist, Judi James, analyses why the financial aspect of sharing a house can be so difficult if you're a student or starting out in your career.

The UK's housing market isn't functioning like it should, with too few affordable properties for sale or rent. As well as that, the market is vulnerable to shocks and political pressure, like the London mayoral election results and Brexit. Ryan Prince is VP at Realstar, a private renting company, and he gives his take on the state of the market.
