For many homeowners it's been the case for some years that each time they remortgage, their rate comes down. But with the Bank of England liftng base rate three times in a matter of months, inflation soaring to 7%, and banks and building societies hiking mortgage rates, that is no longer the case. It must be said that mortgage rates are still low by historic standards, but whereas borrowers with the biggest deposits or equity could fix for under 1% last year, now they will be paying 2%. Not much compared to the sky high rates of the past, but many homeowners can't bag these super cheap deals and will pay rates above 3%. Again, these are low but rising and people may find the same mortgage now sets them back £100 a month more. What can borrowers do, will rates keep rising and how does inflation fit into all of this? Georgie Frost and Simon Lambert look at the mortgage market and what's going on. Also, is buy-to-let having a mini resurgence? Could you search out a social broadband tariff and save money? And finally, what makes a good home or car insurer, and does anybody ever check up before taking out policies?

Inflation hit 8.5% in the month of March, the highest since 1981, and signs of demand destruction may be appearing in the used car market. Yasser El-Shimy joins Asit Sharma to discuss why investors are hoping that inflation has peaked, Carmax’s earnings miss and the state of the used car market, and the growing trend of buying homes sight unseen. Plus, 'When are you gonna get me a car?' Alison Southwick and Robert Brokamp continue their conversation with Ron Lieber, personal finance columnist for The New York Times and the author of “The Opposite of Spoiled: Raising Kids Who Are Grounded, Generous, and Smart About Money.”

Twitter’s board was going to look a little different. Not so much anymore. Tim Beyers joins Deidre Woollard to discuss the potential reasons why Elon Musk is jumping off Twitter’s board, Warner Bros. Discovery’s first day as a publicly traded company, and a potential seller’s strike at Etsy. Plus, Matt Argersinger joins Deidre in a discussion on how rising interest rates could impact Zillow and Redfin, and what those companies are doing differently from each other.

Confidence and self-worth as an adult generally stems from childhood: it may be thought that childhood is what you make of it, but not everyone has the same opportunities. Where this is the case, the consequences are either to develop a coping strategy, which often leads downhill, or to react against that feeling of resignation and make the change. Adam Cox is joined by Malcolm Flanders, a Director at Golden Charter, one of the sector's largest providers, to discuss new funeral industry regulation on market standards from the Financial Conduct Authority (FSA). Victoria Scholar of Interactive Investor looks at the latest inflation numbers, warning that further rises are now inevitable. She looks at the results of Tesco, Asos and Easyjet and how they are affected by so many costs soaring. She discusses how investors can navigate the inflationary environment, pointing out that with cash giving such a negligible return, it's not a time to be uninvested. Investors should think about sectors such as banks, oil & gas and commodities and about companies that are price-givers rather than price-takers.

'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore' enters the UK b.o. chart at #1, the 3rd highest opening of the year. James Cameron-Wilson found it long, slow and lacking magic, though he enjoyed Dreamworks' 'The Bad Guys' at #3. 'The Outfit' with Mark Rylance at #7 has been well reviewed but is not extensively released. James strongly recommends F.W. Murnau's massively influential 1922 vampire classic 'Nosferatu' out on an extras-laden Blu-Ray but also coming to cinemas and available online from Eureka.
