Moving forward at Share Radio

There's a big change coming for Share Radio listeners as from 7 pm tomorrow, Friday 5th May: the station is going 100% online, as part of a substantial change in its broadcasting strategy. For more details on the background to this change, listen or download here: https://shar.es/1FwozA .

The live 24/7 stream and podcast archive will continue to be available on its www.shareradio.co.uk website, on the Share Radio apps (Apple and Android) and on internet radios throughout the world. DAB broadcasting will no longer be supported in the United Kingdom.

Many of listeners’ favourite programs will continue, but some will change. There'll be national, international and business news on the hour, and a number of Share Radio presenters will continue producing output, including Simon Rose, Linda Lewis and Sue Dougan. The full schedule is available on https://www.shareradio.co.uk/schedule/ .

Share Radio is accompanied by its sister channel, Share Music, which has been 100% online for over a year on www.sharemusic.me  and its Share Music apps, focusing on instrumental folk music: it’s great background for reading, drafting and entertaining, and will also stream on Share Radio from midnight to 6am.

Gavin Oldham, founder of Share Radio, said: “the move to internet-only broadcasting will enable us to build a clear understanding of listener interest, something which has not been possible in quantitative terms from linear transmission such as DAB. This, combined with a very significant reduction in costs, will enable us to build a more listener-centric commercial model going forwards.

“We will continue to welcome those who have worked with Share Radio over the past 2 ½ years to use our studios for production of their funded programmes, which will continue to be streamed on Share Radio.”

Share Radio and Share Music are streamed as online stations and operated by Share Premium Ltd., a company also controlled by Gavin Oldham.
