This is Money: Don't be fooled by the FTSE.
Welcome to the This is Money and Share Radio podcast, brought to you in partnership with NS&I. We’re still on course for Brexit, albeit pending Parliament’s approval. Already a number of banks seem intent on following through on their threats to relocate jobs, but what about the local branches already shutting down across the UK? Meanwhile the FTSE continues to soar on the back of the slumping pound but questions remain as to the underlying health of the UK economy. Inflation also looks set to rise as does national debt although the latest GDP figures do offer some good news at least. To discuss how people can save and invest for the turbulent times ahead Georgie Frost is joined in the studio by Editor Simon Lambert and Deputy Editor Adrian Lowrey. Plus just when BT thought their problems couldn’t get any worse we’ll be announcing the results of the annual Money Mail Wooden Spoon Awards. This is Money is presented by Georgie Frost in partnership with NS&I.

This is Money: What Goes Up...
Welcome to the This is Money and Share Radio podcast, brought to you in partnership with NS&I. This week we ask just how high the FTSE could go in 2017. With the New Year bull run still in full swing is now the time to invest or could the current record be too good to be true? Meanwhile the FTSE might be rising but the pound continues to slump to its lowest levels since the 2008 crisis. Good news for exporters at least whilst even Mark Carney’s admitting Brexit won’t be quite as bad for the country. So just where does all this leave the devaluing pound in your pocket? To find out Georgie Frost is joined by Editor Simon Lambert and Personal Finance Editor Rachel Rickard Straus. Also on this week’s agenda they look at the latest retail figures, Halifax’s statistics on first time buyers and the new powers allowing the tax man to spy on your online activity. This Really is Money: Look on the Brightside
Welcome to the This is Money and Share Radio podcast, brought to you in partnership with NS&I. After a year of doom and gloom stories this week we’re looking at the positives. Despite the Michael Fish style forecasting of the post-Brexit economy the FTSE is surging to unprecedented levels, could this be the time to start investing? For those less keen on the cut and thrust of the stock market a glimmer of hope for savings rates does seem to be on the horizon in 2017 as we look through some of the accounts paying up to 5%. Georgie Frost is joined by Editor Simon Lambert who gives his wish list of headlines for the next year whilst Consumer Affairs Editor Lee Boyce takes centre stage on everything coin related. But just how well will their financial knowledge stack up in our Podcast Quiz of the Year? This is Money is presented by Georgie Frost in partnership with NS&I.

This is Money: Railmaggedon
Welcome to the This is Money and Share Radio podcast, brought to you in partnership with NS&I. Are we seeing the end of an era for ultra cheap mortgages? HSBC is withdrawing its record low 0.99% deal which could usher in a new wave of price hikes. It’s not just mortgages undergoing price hikes though. Rail fares are set to rise 2.3% whilst growing commuter dissatisfaction with poor service has prompted Transport Secretary Chris Grayling to devise a new plan for better management. In the end though train times might be the last of our problems as we hear about one financial expert predicting major financial Armageddon just around the corner. Could we be in for the worst crisis yet? And what can people do to prepare? Gold is being tipped as a favourite but certainly not spread betting which is currently undergoing a crackdown. Georgie Frost is joined by Personal Finance Editor Rachel Rickard Straus and Consumer Affairs Editor Lee Boyce to find out more about this potential money meltdown. Also this week we take a look at Money Mail’s annual Wooden Spoon Awards and see which of Britain’s shambolic businesses have made it onto the shortlist.

This is Money: Playing the Trump Card
Welcome to the This is Money and Share Radio podcast, presented in partnership with NS&I. It’s been a politically turbulent year, and this week the pollsters were proved wrong again as Donald Trump defied all odds to become 45th President of the United States. The billionaire real estate developer and TV personality with no political experience beat establishment favourite Hillary Clinton in one of the bitterest campaigns in history. With the markets swerving in all directions the eyes of the world are now on the United States waiting to see what a Trump presidency will bring. What will it mean for post-Brexit Britain? Despite Barrack Obama’s previous description of the UK being “at the back of the queue” Mr. Trump certainly appears more open to trade deals. Editor Simon Lambert and reporter Sarah Davidson join Georgie Frost to look at what could come of the shock victory and how it happened. Could being “a master of mess” be the key? That’s the theory being put forward by one economist. Also on this week’s show we look at the fallout from the Tesco Bank hack, the latest victims to rising food prices and how a wood burning stove could provide a cheaper way of keeping your home cosy this Christmas. This is Money: Is Marmitegate Toast?
Welcome to the This is Money and Share Radio podcast, presented in partnership with NS&I. This week, we're finally seeing the real-world of effect of Brexit: Marmite is gone from Tesco's shelves! Well, digital shelves at least, and it seems the supermarket giant and its main supplier Unilever have sorted out their differences for now, so you can rest easy. But if the battle is over for now, we can't be so sure about the war. As companies are squeezed from all sides by a falling pound and the soaring popularity of online delivery, can it lead to anything but higher prices at the checkout? Editor Simon Lambert and Consumer Affairs Editor Lee Boyce joined Georgie Frost this week to examine Marmite-gate, and see what it portends. They also took a look at Sterling's effect on holidaymaker's plans, the latest round of cuts at the beleaguered Lloyds, and what if anything we can know about housing prices in the future. This is Money: Achtung!
Welcome to another episode of This is Money, brought to you in partnership with NS&I. This week, Editor Simon Lambert and Consumer Affairs Editor Lee Boyce team up with Georgie Frost to deliver you the best of financial journalism and analysis this week. And who knows where Brexit will take us, but the simple fact is for now Europe still has a profound effect. Most notably Germany this week, as serious instability at Deutsche Bank, the country’s largest bank, and massive job cuts at Commerzbank, it’s second biggest, are sending waves through the banking sector this side of the channel. It’s not all bad news for the Germans though, as their budget supermarket Aldi is eating up more of the market share in Britain, though it seems at the expense of their own profits as well. Sustainable strategy? We’ll have to wait and see. Also on the show, the World Economic Forum raises its estimation of the British economy, the Help to Buy scheme has run its course, BHS gets a digital resurrection, and the gang give their favourite of their 50 top savings tips. This is Money: It's Brexit Bonanza!
Once again, it's time for the This is Money podcast. Every week, in partnership with NS&I, Financial Broadcaster of the Year Georgie Frost and Financial Website of the Year This is Money team up to go through all the finance stories you need to know this week. Georgie is joined in the studio by Editor Simon Lambert and Personal Finance Editor Rachel Rickard-Strauss. We’re going to be talking about the latest CMA report- could we be seeing a range of new apps to make choosing and switching bank accounts easier? And on top of that, the Bank of England cut in interest rates has caused a number of impacts since last week with some good news for first time house buyers but more worrying for savers, we’ll be looking at the effects on mortgages and pensions. Meanwhile the Bank of England has said it wants to encourage investors to take 'more risk'. So how can you make money in this post-Brexit Britain without gambling your nest egg away? And finally we’ll be tackling the perennial topic of inheritance tax. This is Money is presented by George Frost, in partnership with NS&I.

On this edition of This Is Money, Editor Simon Lambert and Personal Finance Editor Rachel Rickard-Strauss are in to talk more Brexit fall-out, of course; will Mark Carney’s reassuring tones be enough to steady the ship, as Sterling falls further than we've seen since Walter Mondale was a relevant cultural reference? We’ll also be looking at property fund lockouts, and why you should NEVER trust them with your pension. And stay tuned to the end as we have a rare win for the little guy, to the tune of £19 Billion!
