Our journey since 2014, and how our service is delivered
It's now nearly twelve years since Share Radio started broadcasting on 5th November 2014, with the theme 'sharing ideas about money'. We made a big change fom UK DAB broadcasting in May 2017 to deliver our services wholly online, also moving to registered access. Throughout this time, we've kept you informed with our weekly newsletter and delivered a schedule of new audio programmes; this will continue into the future.
In April 2021, Share Radio and Share Music were combined into a single broadcasting channel. Because our speech programmes are somewhat less than the available hours in the day, you're able to enjoy our substantial portfolio of instrumental folk music in between. Key speech programme times are currently scheduled to follow the 9 am news each morning and the 2 pm news each afternoon. All programmes (since our start of broadcasting) remain available through our substantial audio podcast library, Share Sounds.
Listeners continue to register - just once - for access to our free radio service: we encourage you to register via www.sharefound.org/shareradio for free access. Meanwhile, if you'd like to contact us, please do so via our contact webpage.
Looking forward
Listeners will be aware of our close relationship with The Share Foundation and Share Alliance. These two UK charities work hard to enable individual empowerment through the provision of resources and life skills for the disadvantaged:
The Share Foundation operates within the United Kingdom, and its focus is on helping young people. It operates the Junior ISA and Child Trust Fund (CTF) programmes for young people in care on behalf of the UK Department for Education, and a major recovery programme for the Child Trust Fund scheme generally via its search facility findCTF.sharefound.org.
Share Alliance is UK-based but has a global interest in discovering a more egalitarian and participative form of economics. It works closely with King's College, Cambridge and the university's Faculty of Economics carrying out research into two main areas: inter-generational rebalancing and 'stock for data and creativity'.
Over the coming years, Share Radio will increasingly work on behalf of these two charities and, in order to align more closely with them, we are changing our theme to 'participation for all'. Our speech programmes will continue to feature a wide range of interests including politics, finance, psychology, current affairs, technology and the media; we will also welcome a broad range of discussion aligned with the interests of these two charities.
Meanwhile, Share Premium Ltd. (the company which operates Share Radio and Share Music) is registered in the United Kingdom, number 10446463. Share Premium Ltd.’s VAT registration number is 267 6247 72.
