The Institute for Fiscal Studies says the UK could face a further 2 years of austerity measures if we vote to leave the EU. Economists in the Leave camp disagree and say economic growth would accelerate following an exit. Carl Emerson is the author of the IFS report, Deputy Director at the IFS, Carl Emerson. There are many aspects and huge ramifications associated with the Tata steel saga but at the heart of the matter is selling the right quality steel, at the right price, to the right customer in the right place. Given that the UK, or indeed other European producers, will never be able to compete with the giant producers of China. The Focus may have to be on niche, high end production.
