We all use software for sending emails, for writing documents and for making spreadsheets - but what about software that allows you to share ideas with your colleagues - on the go and whenever they strike you? That's what Idea Drop does. The product comes from entrepreneur duo Owen Hunnam and Charlie de Rusett who have just secured one million pounds worth of investment. They joined reporter Sara Macham to explain more.
In March, rising food and fuel prices pushed UK consumer inflation to 2.3 percent. But, inflation for small businesses rose to 3.2 percent - the highest rate for 8 years. That's according to Barclays' Small Business Cost Index. Share Radio's Sara Macham spoke to Ian Rand, CEO of Barclays Business Banking, to find out more.
This week look at the lack of female entrepreneurs. The number has fallen for the third year in a row and according to Natwest, it's costing the UK economy £1 billion a year. But, plenty of women do start and run their own business. So what is going on? Worrying numbers of small businesses are feeling increasingly stretched by financial pressures. So much so, that 1 in 5 small business owners with cashflow problems aren't able to pay their staff, and are instead having to dip into their savings. This week the Northern Restaurant and Bar Show will be coming to Manchester providing the North's biggest hospitality show to industry professionals. Nosh Detox is a company producing freshly made, non-pasteurised juice diets, detox and nutritional plans across Europe and the US. But it also has quite a unique backstory. Former lawyer Geeta Sidhu-Robb set up the business after retraining as a food technician and nutritionist to find a way of treating her ill son. Focusing on allergy free foods, nutrition, diet and organic produce she aimed to find an alternative to the drugs and steroids being suggested by his doctors.
