Despite a growing number of vacancies and demand for new workers many bosses are struggling to fill roles due to a lack of available candidates. A new report by Markit and the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, shows that January saw a marked fall in the number of applicants causing major problems for recruiters. Barclays has agreed to sell its French retail banking operations to European private equity firm, AnaCap Financial Partners. This follows the UK bank’s decision to sell its credit arms in Spain and Portugal. The bank says it's going to focus on its core markets in the UK and US.
