McDonald's is to move its non-US tax base from Luxembourg to the UK
McDonald's is to move its non-US tax base from Luxembourg to the UK, the company has said. The new holding company will pay UK tax on the royalties the firm receives outside the US. McDonald's said it had chosen the UK due to the "significant number of staff" it has in London. The Luxembourg tax affairs of the burger giant are currently under formal investigation by the European Commission. Clive Gawthorpe, Tax partner at UHY Hacker Young, joined Share Radio to discuss the move.

Some analysts have suggested the favoured "castle approach", the act of building up security measures to stop threats from getting in from the outside, is outdated because most breaches occur from within. Scottish cyber security software specialist ZoneFox is one company using machine-learning to monitor internal business computer activity and flag up threats. Matt Cox spoke to Dr Jamie Graves, the CEO of ZoneFox, to find out more.

Black Friday is on and bargain hunting shoppers may spend an estimated £2 billion trying to beat expected new year price rises. And according to the online retailing association IMRG, well over half the spend will be done online. So it might seem surprising to find that two old pre-internet age stores are being revived on the High Street. This month, Scottish wind farms have received a record £5.5 million to shut down. It’s after hurricane-force gusts produced more electricity than could be consumed. August 7th saw winds blowing as high as 115 miles an hour, while demand for power fell to record lows. But Renewable UK’s Deputy Chief Executive, Maf Smith, told Share Radio's James Brydges that wind farms turning off was actually the least expensive solution.
