Gadgets & Gizmos: 5G stalled by lampposts (R)
You may have read of the stalling of 5G installation around airports: such precautions are not new! In May 2019 Steve Caplin explained why 5G has been stalled by lamppost problems - this is the episode raising the issue. He also went automotive, looking at Dyson's plans for an electric off-road car, the Honda e with swift recharge, the electric Jaguar E-type with optional original engine and Hydrogen-powered double-decker buses and he explained why Jeff Bezos thinks he can have a moonbase by 2024 while Elon Musk thinks he can get to Mars by then. Australia's $50 note issue was marred by a spelling mistake, Barcelona had a self-charging e bike and there's a very cheap credit-card sized charger to take around with you.

The Financial Outlook for Personal Investors: What will 40-year-high inflation in the US mean for markets?
Victoria Scholar, head of investment at Interactive Investor, talks to Simon Rose about the likely effects of US inflation hitting 7%, a forty-year high. With the labour market there tight, as in the UK, she considers what the Federal Reserve's response is likely to be, given that the problems are caused more by the supply side of the economy, rather than the demand side. And what will this mean for markets and the sort of tech stocks that have been riding so high?

The Bigger Picture: Has Boris's luck run out, Putin's sabre-rattling & mistaken Brexit predictions
Professor Tim Evans of Middlesex University asks if Boris ("lucky general") Johnson's luck has finally run out and wonders where the truly big beasts of British politics are these days. He ponders the military dangers of Putin's ineffective and declining economic model. And he cocks a snook at many supposed "experts" whose predications about the effect of Brexit now seem very wide of the mark.
