Recently we had another case testing the rights of gig economy workers. Self-employed cycle courier Andrew Boxer took the firm Excel to an employment tribunal arguing that he was a "worker" as defined by the Employment Rights Act - therefore, should get basic rights including holiday pay and the national minimum wage. His claim was backed by the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain and the employment tribunal agreed with him. To find out what rulings such as this will mean for the gig economy Georgie Frost was joined by Kevin Charles, Director of Crosslands Employment Solicitors.

Executive pay remains in the headlines, with German banking giant Deutsche Bank cutting bonuses by more than 75% last year, while four bosses at Melrose Industries were set to split a £200 million share payout. Oliver Parry, Head of Corporate Governance Policy for the Institute of Directors, joined Share Radio's Ed Bowsher to discuss.

From Deliveroo to Uber more and more people are getting involved in the gig economy. Whilst for many it can provide a useful income boost, thousands could be missing out on employment rights. Indeed nearly two-thirds of gig economy workers think the Government should do more to regulate according to research from The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. A survey by Grant Thornton showed that of 5,500 businesses in 36 economies, the proportion of women in senior management has reached an all-time high of 25 per cent, up 1 percentage point from 2016, and up 6 percentage points since the survey began in 2004. Recruitment firm Morgan McKinley have recently released their UK 2017 Salary Guide revealing a year of mixed fortunes for professionals. Uncertainty has weighed heavy on the UK jobs market however it's not all doom and gloom especially for industries such as technology. According to leading think tank The Resolution Foundation, the number of people on zero hour contracts in the UK has reached a new high. Share Radio's Ed Bowsher was joined on the line by Andrea Broughton, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies.

New analysis published by the TUC on Friday reveals that the average woman has to wait nearly a fifth of a year (66 days) before she starts to get paid, compared to the average man. The analysis shows that inequality within the workplace is still a major issue. So what do employers need to do to reign in the gap? The chief executive of Uber has apologised after a video came out of him getting into an argument with one of the company's drivers. The dashcam footage shows Travis Kalanick dismissing the man's concerns about falling pay rates.
